I don’t think people always realize the importance of an invitation. It sets the tone, style and type of party for the guest from the very beginning. Halloween party invitations are no different. With the invitation they get the details and know what to wear, bring, the date, time and location all in one fell swoop. That’s a big job and the invitation handles it all!
Hosting a Halloween Party
When hosting a Halloween party, you have lots of decisions to make. All of these decisions need to be made first so the actual planning can begin. You need to decide:
- Time (start and end, if there is a limit)
- Adult or Children’s party?
- Is it a costume party? or just a Halloween celebration?
- What type of food and drink will you offer? (appetizers, meal, scary foods, normal foods, etc…)
- How will the food/drink be served? (buffet, serve yourself, passed or sit down meal style)
- Will you offer favor or prizes to your guests?
- Do guests need to bring anything? (food, drink, prize donations, etc…)
- Do you have a specific theme for the party? (Zombies, Vampires, Graveyard, Spooky, Funny, etc…)
These are the type of things that need to be discussed and decided before you do anything else for your Halloween party. Invitations, Halloween decor, food, tables, chairs and more all depend upon answering the questions above, first!
Halloween Party Invitations — Adult
Now that you know the type of party and other details, find the invitation. It will set the mood for the guests right from the beginning. Scary, Fun, Goth, or traditional — there are invitations for any Halloween theme. Here are a few I love!
I adore the first one. It gives you the “creepy” feel but uses bold untraditional Halloween colors. Different, unique is how I would describe this one.
The second one is a vintage poster style invitation. I am partial to this style invitation design for almost any occasion. I just love it.
The last one is unique as well. It’s a close-up of a candelabra with a bat. It’s a Poe-esque style in my book. Perfect for a scary costume part for adults!
Halloween Party Invitations — Children
Depending on the age of the kids, you may want to steer clear of anything too scary. However, teens might be the exception.
For younger children, the fun is in the dressing up as their favorite character, the food/candy and games.
You can still use ghosts and goblins, just more on the funny or entertaining side of the spectrum. Invitations for this type of party need to be lighthearted Halloween like the one to the right.
Those little kiddies dressed up in their Halloween finest are perfect for a kid’s Halloween party.
